Position Summary:

The Reliability/Process Engineer position is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. The role will identify and implement improvement activities that result in sustained product and operational cost reductions in a high speed/high volume manufacturing facility. The Reliability Engineer will champion 1-3yr improvement plans while supporting plant manufacturing processes. The role will identify and implement solutions to eliminate variation within operations (material flow, stamping, welding, rolling, assembly and testing). The position is based in Memphis, TN and will support other MPS small packaging facilities throughout the United States.


  • Develop and lead the reliability process in a manner that will have a direct impact on equipment uptime, efficiency, cost management, quality, safety, customer satisfaction, innovation, and ultimately profitability.
  • Leverage network and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) subject matter experts to develop reliability efforts through enhanced communication and best practice sharing
  • Through analytical tools, work with Operations to identify equipment end of life (EOL) opportunities, required equipment and process upgrades and develop & manage long-term capital investment plans
  • Analyze equipment downtime data and develop & manage a process that will drive OEM uptime and lower costs
  • Identify, monitor and maintain key performance indicators (KPI’s), and drive data access to the operator/craftsman level.
  • Assist in tracking metrics and generating the monthly maintenance report for area of responsibility.
  • Assist maintenance personnel by troubleshooting and resolving equipment problems as necessary.
  • Own and regularly respond with subject matter expertise to maintenance/equipment related questions, own access to and distribution of OEM technical bulletin updates, and facilitate strong communication with OEM vendors
  • Develop maintenance benchmarking data / KPI’s in order to drive improvements amongst like sites and other similar corporate entities
  • Reviews major purchases and capital projects to optimize life cycle costs.
  • Provides input into capital budget to drive improved reliability.
  • Give recommendations for spare parts of equipment.
  • Working closely with corporate reliability leader to develop site maintenance excellence and reliability plan.
  • Support maintenance personnel during equipment overhauls and unscheduled outages.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis of systems and subsystems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Develop effective PM’s for equipment to support business unit metrics. Interact with other Operating facilities to ensure consistent practices are maintained.
  • Adhere to and uphold all Plant Safety standards to ensure safe working environment for all team members.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline; preferably Mechanical or IE.
  • 3-5 years of engineering experience required.
  • Six Sigma/Lean experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communications skills – must be able to effectively communicate and work with multiple departments and levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of proper equipment design and proper operation.
  • Working knowledge of Stamping, Welding, Forming, Automation, and Coating.
  • Working knowledge of high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong Understanding and ability to perform SPC, FMEA, CA (Criticality Analysis), Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone, or in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. SAP & Data Analysis (such as Minitab) experience a plus.
