Position Summary: The Quality Manager's strategic focus is to work with approximately 20 plant operations teams to continuously improve the quality that is built into Mauser products.

Responsibilities:

  • Audit, summarize and review the quality system with each respective plant management team within the Reconditioning Steel Division.
  • Interact with production floor personnel and management to conduct root cause analysis for quality defects and develop resolutions to correct deficiencies.
  • Communicate and investigate any customer inquiries as they relate back to quality. Work with Operations team to find solutions to customer complaints focusing on permanent corrective action.
  • Review, measure and proactively study KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to prevent substandard product that does not meet customer specifications.
  • Implement process improvement with the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) measurement analysis. 
  • Use tools such as Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), process flow mapping, control plan documentation and Capability Analysis to define customer requirements.
  • Ensure Costs of Quality metrics are aligned with the company’s strategic initiatives, including scrap, rework, returns, appraisal and prevention.
  • Utilize and teach Lean tools including 5S, Kaizen, quick changeover, value stream mapping, mistake proofing, etc. Participate in Kaizen events as necessary.
  • Manage Hold for Inspection System. Measure, quantify and communicate HFIs to the production floor and any other team members who need to be informed.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations or Business Management.
  • Minimum 5 years of quality experience in a high volume fast-paced manufacturing operation with multi-site responsibility.
  • Must have experience with preventive quality engineering techniques such as PFMEA, control plans, process mapping. 
  • Knowledge of and experience with utilizing Lean manufacturing practices.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Microsoft Office experience and Infinity Quality System software experience preferred.
