Position Summary:

Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for the direct management and planning of goods and materials for use by the organization, and the organization, movement, and supply of raw materials within the plant. This includes creating specific forecasts for items over a given time span, which shall be used for inventory management purposes, strategic ordering, and vendor selection.

The successful candidate will make sure that materials required for running the production lines are always available in a cost-effective way and will continuously identify material-related opportunities for cost reduction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize data analysis, business intelligence, and reporting tools to forecast supply and material needs across within the plant. Responsible for the creation of materials requirements plans and forecasts and for all materials availability to support the manufacturing process while keeping DIO to acceptable levels.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators and metrics for supply chain planning and forecasting; enact changes based on findings.
  • Perform periodic inventory counts at the Plant and warehouse(s). Identify discrepancies between inventory records and take action.
  • Facilitate, lead, and support all supplier relationships.
  • Review, maintain and update accordingly the min/max system already in place. Run cycle counts where min/ max is unavailable. Develop and maintain a Kanban system for parts as required, ensure FIFO and reorder points.
  • Liaise with vendors on quality issues.
  • Receive, organize and compile information for inventory tracking.
  • Receives shipments from vendors, checking vendor packing slips/invoices for accuracy and insuring quantities received are as stated; maintains appropriate records
  • Directly issues materials received to open purchase orders
  • Enters receipt and distribution of materials into computer to update automated inventory records in SAP
  • File requisitions, purchase orders, or requests for materials
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Analytical abilities and problem solving skills, excellent conflict resolution skills, diplomacy and tact. Knowledge and skill to perform intermediate Excel functions, Word, and Power Point.

Education and/ or Experience: High school education or G.E.D. and 3 – 5 years related experience preferably in a manufacturing setting.

Language Skills: Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
