Position Summary: plans, organizes and directs the daily, weekly, monthly and annual activities of the overall production and manufacturing activities to effectively meet customer requirements in a safe and efficient manner. Has general responsibility for safety, quality, efficiency, cost and on-time delivery for manufacturing operations. Directs and evaluates the activity of first-line production supervisors to facilitate effective plant operations. Evaluates production results, including safety and quality, and takes appropriate corrective action. Is directly involved with the training, scheduling, interviewing, selection and orientation of new hourly production plant employees. Conducts regular supervisors and employee meetings to facilitate communications, problem solving and motivation. Promotes a clean, safe work environment and insures that quality procedures are followed, supplies, materials are ordered and tools and equipment are maintained in a timely and effective manner. Responsible for the administration and compliance of all Company policies and procedures as well as any legal statutes.


  • Directs daily and continuous improvement activities related to production, safety, quality, OEE and scrap improvements. Works closely with employees and plant supervision to ensure maximum operating efficiency.
  • Plans and coordinates manpower to meet production requirements through existing and new hires as well as temporary staffing. Liaises with temporary employment agencies.
  • Manages hourly employee’s attendance and records. Manages vacation requests.
  • Enforces Health & Safety rules in accordance to company policies and provincial and federal regulations. Supports the Health & Safety Manager.
  • Assigns and monitors supervisors’ activities and follow-ups to insure that work is performed to applicable standards. Takes corrective actions to meet production and quality requirements in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintains production, quality and employee records as needed.
  • Promote and maintain harmonious relations between the Union and Management.
  • Insures that all employees are adequately trained to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner. This includes both backup and cross-training. Maintains the training matrix.
  • Motivates and counsel’s employees to achieve daily, weekly and monthly objectives.
  • Supplies production reports, quality and attendance reports, keeps KPIs up to date.
  • Maintains and updates the Shoplogix program, produces reports and participates/ leads Shoplogix initiatives and new projects.
  • Completes production summaries, ensures accurate shift reporting.
  • Administers discipline as required and keeps proper records accordingly.
  • Manages inventories of internally-made subcomponents.


Job Requirements


  • Associate Degree in Industrial Technology/Engineering preferred, and/or two years’ technical education beyond high school.
  • Five (5) years of successful experience as a production supervisor/ manager in an ISO 9001 certified manufacturing plant.
  • Working knowledge of metal cutting, forming, welding and finishing.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes flow and measurements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of industrial OSHA, WSIB and ESA statutes. 
  • Lean Manufacturing training and experience with an operations improvements mindset.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with materials and scheduling systems.
  • Experience with unionized workforce.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) helpful.
