The Maintenance Supervisor directs activities of personnel engaged in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment including power presses, can making dies, tooling and automated devises.  Responsible to attain goals consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.  Is responsible to implement and hold accountable direct reports safe work practices as well as on-the-job performance.

 Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for directing the maintenance activities of employees across multiple shifts, including hiring, directing activities, training and developing skills, appraisals, rewards and discipline of performance.
  • Directs daily department activities in order to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs.
  • Establishes preventive maintenance schedules, and insures completion of activities in a timely manner.
  • Help with the achievement of performance metrics established by corporate, facility and management including but not limited to KPI’s.
  • Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
  • Generates maintenance logs and other records.
  • Ensure reliable operation of plant equipment and develop methods to enhance or upgrade manufacturing processes to eliminate waste, reduce cost and improve overall production productivity.
  • Order and maintain effective spare part inventory.
  • Monitors operating efficiencies of production machines to insure equipment is operating at peak performance.
  • Administers safety programs.
  • Provides counseling, leadership and direction to maintenance employees.
  • Enforces plant rules, monitors attendance and provides corrective action as necessary.
  • Conducts regular department safety meetings and training sessions for direct reports.
  • Ensures maintenance areas are kept clean, organized, and all that safety standards are being met.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent in experience.
  • Must have tool and die experience.
  • 5 plus years of experience in maintaining a high volume metal container facility.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to train and educate department personnel.
  • Working knowledge and ability to use MS Office.
