Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare receiving dock to accept incoming product.
  • Prepare materials for shipment.
  • Match incoming and outgoing product with purchase orders.
  • Verify product expiration codes.
  • Inspect product to ensure saleable condition with acceptable code dating.
  • Operate a forklift or electric pallet jack in a safe manner to move product
  • May be required to assist with scheduling freight appointments.
  • May lift cases of product and/or stock merchandise according to documented procedures.
  • Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking.
  • Assist in the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries.
  • Track shipments and verify receipts of shipments as required.
  • Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Sort and distribute incoming shipments.
  • Perform quality audits of the condition of shipped goods for both incoming and outgoing items prior to signing off.
  • Collaborate with front office staff on inventory levels and product knowledge.
  • Report discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure that shipments contain proper documentation and if there are multiple items per shipment, ensure item lists are complete.
  • Problem solve for any cases of missing documents, shipments and deliveries.
  • Collaborate with team to conduct monthly and yearly inventory counts.
  • Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures and safety regulations
  • Carry out clean up and housekeeping, to ensure a clean and safe working environment at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned or required at the discretion of the Supervisor.

 

 

Job Requirements

Requirements for employment

  • Forklift Training/Certification an asset, or willing to be trained within first 6 months of hire, if required
  • Working experience in Shipping and Receiving role preferred.
  • Experience in distribution environment preferable
  • Knowledge of filling out waybills, bills of lading and international shipments
  • Ability to lift or move 50 lbs required
  • Enjoys good physical health and vision
  • Ability to follow and adhere to work instructions
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to read and write English fluently and legibly
  • Good numerical skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Team player with ability and desire to work well with others
  • Ability to troubleshoot
  • Exceptional positive attitude
  • ability to understand and implement safe work/operating procedures (as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures noted for individual job description)
