Position Summary:

The Fleet Safety & Compliance Manager has full responsibility for creating, implementing and maintaining a companywide driver compliance and safety training program. The Manager will also maintain all federal, state, local and FMCSA regulatory compliance filings for the private fleet. In addition, they will track and manage all accidents and incidents involving the private fleet, including the management of all claims and subrogation for fleet related incidents.

The successful candidate should demonstrate sound judgment and adherence to compliance regulations; possess strong skills in administrative policy and procedure development, and demonstrate strong relationship building and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develops and implements private fleet driver safety and DOT compliance programs companywide
  • Works cross functionally with HR, Plant Operations and Corporate Logistics to establish policies, programs and communication surrounding private fleet drivers
  • Manages Random Drug and Alcohol program across all business units
  • Manages Driver Qualification Files and annual recertification’s for driver population
  • Establishes onboarding process and safety training sessions for all drivers and is the process owner for all driver related safety training
  • Responsible for all Federal, State and Local operational regulatory filings for all MPS locations
  • Manages and reports Driver CSA Scores & MVR performance
  • Maintains Tax and Registration Filings, including IFTA, IRP, UCR, MCS-150.
  • Tracks fuel usage for transportation and heavy equipment. Submits reports and documents to federal authorities, as required.
  • Actively promotes safety as the primary motivation for all fleet equipment operations
  • Maintains awareness and compliance with all local, state, and federal compliance requirements
  • Updates and distributes the Fleet Safety Policy and the Drivers Handbook
  • Provides location support with analysis of HOS, Safety and Maintenance compliance with applicable law and company policy
  • Identifies regulatory compliance risks/concerns and make recommendations or take corrective actions to implement solutions to improve controls.
  • Communicates findings and recommendations to management and business partners, regarding escalated or high-risk compliance issues

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or applicable education/work experience
  • 5-7 years’ experience managing compliance programs
  • 1-3 years of audit experience in regulatory or compliance environment, a regulatory agency, risk management or other internal control functions
  • Experience with and working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations
  • Excellent time management skills and outstanding problem-solving capacity
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and ability to translate findings into action items and to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, ambiguous and changing environment
  • Ability to appreciate the legal, compliance, and financial context of their work and display appropriate sensitivity to the confidential nature of the work
