Job Description

The Divisional Master Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining a master production plan to ensure demand and supply are balanced at all times. The position will report into Director, Supply Planning and support the optimization of production plans within the North American supply network. The position will work closely with operations planning, manufacturing and procurement. The role interacts with production planning, demand planning, finance, and customer service. The Master Planner will support the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning process.


  • Develop and maintain the 1-4 month Master Production Plan that maximizes service and reduces cost.
    • Monitor the production planning and purchasing activities for the supply network
    • Analyze and ensure a balance of demand, supply and inventory levels
    • Work closely with the plant planners to develop a constrained supply plan that is reviewed at the Supply meeting for consensus and approval
    • Optimize the supply network, identify cost savings optimization and utilize financial analysis metrics and models for tracking supply demands
    • Monitor and highlight material or capacity constraints as they arise. Develop scenarios to address the constraints
    • Track key performance indicators and ensure report out at the monthly Supply meeting


  • Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Planning and the SI&OP Director to implement the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning process.
    • Support the balance of demand and supply in conjunction with the S&OP process requirements and monthly cadence
    • Ensure report and information requirements are available for the monthly Supply meetings
    • Prepare product status updates on a weekly basis to Director of Supply Planning
    • Establish strong internal working relationships with Planning, Manufacturing, Finance, Sales, Procurement and Customer Service
    • Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for the master production plan
    • Prepare ad hoc analysis as needed to understand what is driving changes in capacity utilization

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Statistics or related field
  • 6 years + experience in production planning and scheduling
  • Supply planning experience within an S&OP environment. CPG experience preferred
  • 4-7 years experience with one or more supply, demand or production planning tool (e.g. SAP, JDA or other advanced planning systems). SAP preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of operations and distribution
  • Experience in statistical analysis and problem solving techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and achieve business results through collaboration
  • Demonstrated high degree of adaptability within an ever changing and complex environment
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
  • Results oriented with a high sense of urgency and personal accountability
  • APICS CPIM Certification preferred
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus
