Position Summary:

The Director, Supply Planning has a key role in the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning process. This person will optimize supply chain network and drive cost saving optimization. The Director, Supply Planning will oversee development of well-defined long term master production and capacity plans. The position will work closely with operations planning, manufacturing and procurement. The role interacts with commercial, finance, and customer service. This position reports into the VP of Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop network optimization plan
    • Direct and oversee the production planning for network 
    • Optimize the balance between customer demand, plant capacity, operating efficiencies and inventory levels.
    • Develop and maintain a rolling constrained supply plan (12+ months) that is reviewed at the S&OP Supply meeting for consensus and approval.
    • Optimize the supply chain network, drive cost savings optimization and utilize financial analysis metrics and models for tracking supply demands
    • Leverage existing technology and system application to optimize data and information for decision making and scenario planning
    • Develop the annual production budget with input from plant operations, finance and commercial sales
    • Develop resolution plans for material or capacity constraints, and ensure Commercial Sales is current on the status
    • Review replenishment requirements against the forecast and inventory levels. Lead the supply planning team on resolution of capacity constraints
    • Protect customer satisfaction by ensuring plants maintain a high level of support for OTIF
    • Provide long term capacity volumes to finance and engineering for Strat and Capex planning
  • Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Planning and the SI&OP Director as we implement the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning process.
    • Facilitate the Supply meetings, ensure scenarios are developed for both risks and opportunities and represent Supply in the reconciliation meetings
    • Work with key stakeholders to maintain optimal inventory levels and take a proactive approach to reducing excess inventory
    • Prepare ad hoc analysis as needed to understand what is driving changes in capacity utilization

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance or Mathematics. Master Degree is preferred
  • 10 years + of Supply Chain/Master Scheduling, Master Planning, Inventory Management or related field required
  • 5+ years of management experience with proven ability to lead, motivate and drive change
  • Vendor management knowledge preferred 
  • 6 years working in an S&OP/IBP environment. Experience with S&OP process implementation a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of operational and financial metrics such as capacity utilization, customer service measures, Inventory measures and cost of good
  • Demonstrated understanding of operations, distribution, project management and financial processes.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting complex problems, delivering business results through effective decision making and planning.
  • Demonstrated and a high degree of adaptability within an ever changing and complex environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing activities for the network
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and resources to consistently deliver results
  • Results oriented with a high sense of urgency and personal accountability
  • Experience with SAP preferred. APICS CPIM Certification preferred
