Purpose and Scope:

This position is accountable for the development, implementation, evaluation and support of quality system activities throughout assigned BWAY production facilities. Specific activities include: evaluation of current practices against standard operating quality principles and existing procedures; development of new or revised procedures as necessary; analyze and interpret process and product data to assess capability, and develop new or modified approaches to improve capability, reliability or compliance to specifications; assess the impact of changes through use of appropriate quantitative and qualitative tools; assist plants where necessary in resolving repetitive or complex problems; preparation of quality system documentation in accordance with the company’s current approach.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Utilizing a process approach, evaluate existing practices and conduct gap analyses against international quality system standards and existing procedures.
  • Develop and propose modifications to close the gaps.
  • Analyze and interpret process and product data using appropriate tools for improvement in capability, reliability and compliance
  • Validate process and product changes to ensure desired results are achieved and sustainable.
  • Facilitate or participate on improvement teams directed at resolving repetitive or complex problems.
  • Assess measurement systems to ensure reliable process and product measurement data.
  • Develop/propose modifications when results are unacceptable.
  • Provide training to process owners for system changes, and conduct audits at appropriate intervals to ensure implementation and sustainability.


Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in science or engineering discipline.
  • Other degrees are acceptable with appropriate quality assurance experience.  Knowledge of product, application, and/or quality assurance concepts usually gained through 3 to 5 years combined experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, and/or Quality Assurance functions. 
  • Desired attainment of nationally recognized certification in the areas of quality engineering (e.g., American Society for Quality CQE, CRE, CMQ/OE).
  • Working knowledge of quality or process improvement models such as DMAIC, 8D, PDCA, DMADV. 
