We are seeking a Business Unit Manager to lead Assembly operations at our Sturtevant, WI site. The position reports to site Director of Operations and directs department to meet Can Assembly production, quality, cost objectives, and meeting customer expectations. This position will lead Supervisors as direct reports across multiple shifts. Position will provide leadership to supervision and union employees and ensure they have the proper tools to perform their job safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a safe operation of the business unit and comply with legal, legislative and corporate safety requirements.
  • Directs and coordinates the safety, quality and production activities for Assembly (Aerosol Cans) at the Sturtevant, Wisconsin site.
  • Participates and practices Continuous Improvement practices to include but not limited to TPM, SMED, FMEA, 8D/5Why Problem Analysis.
  • Prepares and reviews any and all production, safety and quality reports. Develops action plans with team members as needed for problem resolution.
  • Directs and assists with developmental or experimental activities.
  • Works with employees to get their input for problem resolution to production issues/efficiencies utilizing problem-solving tools and skills as needed.
  • Performs necessary administrative functions to include budgetary administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation. Prepares and reviews employees worked hours via Kronos for submission to payroll.
  • Reviewing Key Performance Indicators (Daily, Weekly and Monthly) to ensure facility is on track to meet overall departmental objectives.
  • Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to attain operational objectives.
     

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or operations management, Masters desired.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering and/or process improvement roles including managing teams of people.
  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification a plus.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical equipment.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
