Position Summary:

The Business Unit Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the York Refurbishment Center to include safety, quality, efficiencies and meeting customer expectations.  The role provides leadership to employees and ensures they have the proper tools to perform their job safely and efficiently.  The York Refurbishment Center is an operation designed to rebuild stamping press equipment serving the Metals Segment of MPS Small Packaging. 

Responsibilities:

  • Directs and coordinates the safety, quality and production activities of the York Refurbishment Center.
  • Actively participates in the site’s safety and quality management programs.
  • Participates and practices Lean Manufacturing practices to include Six Sigma, FMEA, and 8D Problem Analysis.
  • Engages the team in identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects.
  • Prepares and reviews all production, safety and quality reports. Develops action plans with team members as needed for problem resolution.
  • Establishes and implements improvements for cost reduction, quality assurance and production.
  • Directs and assists with developmental or experimental activities.
  • Works with employees to get their input for problem resolution to inefficiencies utilizing problem-solving tools and skills as needed.
  • Performs necessary administrative functions to include budgetary administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation. Prepares and reviews employees worked hours via Kronos for submission to payroll.
  • Reviewing Key Performance Indicators (Daily, Weekly and Monthly) to ensure facility is on track to meet overall departmental objectives.
  • Implements proactive and corrective maintenance practices relating to all production equipment.
  • Train employees in all aspects of their jobs to include safety, quality and productivity.
  • Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to attain operational objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or operations management and 3 years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment; lead Kaizen events; Embraces continuous improvement
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Self-directed team player
