Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Engineer (SCE) will use rigorous data collection and analysis to craft transportation solutions for the firm.  The SCE’s principal focus will be to perform on-going transportation analyses to support the organization’s transportation network.   The SCE will conduct profitability studies to determine the most optimal transportation alternatives.

He or she will require a strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner.  Accountabilities will require you to identify, propose, and deliver key initiatives that improve our supply chain operations and drive efficiency. This position will frequently interact with VP and SVP of operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for evaluating, designing, and optimizing new and current business logistics processes and identifying alternatives to promote operational efficiencies, cost reductions and improvements
  • Optimize private fleet and third-party transportation efficiency & utilization through the use of routing software to ensure profitability and expense control/reduction.
  • Use detailed shipping data to develop network designs, review costs, and conduct transportation network alternative scenarios. Collaborate with Plant Operations, Customer Service Sales, and Procurement Teams to plan and implement changes.
  • Model transportation alternatives through the use of engineering software with a focus on service and cost.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, indicating solutions or recommendations based on productivity and time studies and various analyses for logistics process improvements.
  • Strategically identify, propose, and deliver key initiatives that improve our supply chain operations and/or drive efficiency into our internal processes
  • Develop and deliver productivity and engineered solutions for the account, including automation of processes
  • Contribute to the creation of standard operating procedures
  • Provide a detailed saving’s tracker for all MPS project execution and fleet route optimizations.
  • Manage and support company intersections for network analysis (plant and cross dock), MPS integration activities, and new business modeling

Job Requirements

Requirements:  

    • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other technical and/or analytical field
    • 2 years of experience in key functional areas: supply chain management, logistics, decision support systems/technology, transportation management, distribution or procurement functional responsibilities
    • Experience data mining and generating simulations in Microsoft BI, Access and Excel to identify and scope opportunities within the customer’s supply chain
    • Experience with ILOG, Supply Chain Guru, Appian or data modeling
    • Experience in SAP
    • Lean six sigma experiences
    • Experience collecting and analyzing data for modeling, network optimization and/or transportation redesign purposes
    • Experience preparing and delivering presentations
    • Strong project management skills
