Position Summary:

Manage Safety, DOT compliance and day-to-day operations, including cost and service, of a regional fleet. Oversee and manage the fleet personnel and fleet equipment for the fleet region.


  • Develop policies and procedures to operate an efficient and safe fleet at multiple fleet locations. Ensure the fleet is safe, compliant, provides excellent service and is cost effective.
  • Recruits, trains, and develops Fleet Management personnel.
  • Develops cost reduction plans and controls discretionary expenses.
  • Develops and Manages fleet budgeting & financial reporting.
  • Manages facilities expectations through regular communication and implementation of continuous improvement processes.
  • Develops local recruiting strategies and establishes driver retention programs. 
  • Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage staffing issues.
  • Directs usage and maintenance of equipment and communication systems.
  • Analyze existing operations and develop plans & policies aimed at improving or expanding operations.
  • Optimizes the fleet on both a local and regional scale.
  • Fill in for Fleet Managers when needed


Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree - Supply Chain or Logistics oriented is preferred
  • 6+ years fleet management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage personnel, develop SOP’s and direct change management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FMCSRs and DOT Compliance
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
  • Understanding of vehicle maintenance related to semi-trailers and diesel tractors
