Overview:

Position provides functional leadership in the area of shipping and receiving at the designated facility. Scheduling of freight for outbound and inbound shipments utilizing the Mauser TMS system for most cost-effective carriers. Complete daily reports required for the department. Assist the Regional Logistics Manager as needed.

Reporting Relationship:

Position reports directly to the Plant Manager at the facility with indirect reporting responsibilities to the Corporate Logistic Manager. Position interfaces closely with the Director of Logistics, Regional Logistics Manager, Regional Business Managers, Regional Sales Managers, Sales Representatives, Customer Service, Quality Assurance, Production Supervisors and Plant Controller.

Position Objectives:

Position will play a critical role in providing sound logistics practices to support the company’s strategic supply chain management objectives. Position will offer significant opportunities for cost reduction and improved customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support company directive reinforcing safety in the work environment by providing a hazard free workplace and holding employees accountable to work safely.
  • Continually strive to reduce operating cost within the Shipping/Receiving/Warehousing functional areas.
  • Support all aspects of logistic management within the facility.
  • Scheduling freight for inbound and outbound for orders using Mauser’s TMS system TMC/Navisphere.
  • Supervise personal within the Shipping and Receiving department in the process of loading and unloading of products.
  • Order shipping supplies as needed to perform daily departmental tasks.
  • Work closely with Plant Manager and Customer Service in providing the highest quality of service to the customers internal and external.
  • Report any conflicts with carriers and rates to Corporate Logistic Manager and to utilize the corrective action request (CAR’s) system for proper handling and documentation.
  • Maintain reports that may be required on daily shipping, receiving, freight savings and carrier on time delivery.
  • Maintain spotting tractor, fleet owned or related equipment at their facility.
  • Assist in spotting of trailers.
  • Assist in loading or unloading processes.
  • Maintain SOP manual for the department.
  • Conduct Training for SOP procedures, safety, and others related topics that effect the department at their facility.
  • Develop procedures that may be needed to ensure proper guidance for the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis on Supply Chain, Transportation or Logistics or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5-7 years of experience
  • Progressive knowledge of warehouse operations; lean manufacturing techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Team player, problem solver, good coaching/teaching skills and can multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Computer experience to include SAP, production planning systems and Microsoft Office
