Basic Function:

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for all production maintenance, including product quality control, line maintenance, and repair of line machinery and equipment. This role involves applying mechanical expertise in determining work methods and procedures for producing quality product.   • Identify and implement improvements to manufacturing and support processes to create cost reductions and improve operational performance.
  • Apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, tooling and materials.
  • Solicit observations from operators, study product requirements, and design, modify and test manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Validate implemented manufacturing process improvements to ensure desired results and sustainability and develop documentation for integration into company quality system.
  • Investigate operational problems affecting production.
  • Support organization, planning and commissioning of new or modified production lines.
  • Provide training to operators, supervisors, and managers on new and modified processes.
  • Repairs and provide Preventative Maintenance of all plastic injection molding equipment, as well as all other auxiliary equipment
  • Install and wire industrial automation line controls and integrate with existing network, as directed/assisted by the Maintenance Manager
  • Perform repairs on electrical or electronic instruments as directed/assisted by the Maintenance Manager
  • Assist with equipment or automation installation work as needed
  • Examine machine controls to install plate changeovers and start up machines for production needs when required
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance checks on all production equipment and machinery
  • Repair basic mechanical components and replace parts on machines such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, gauges and switches
  • Observe and listen to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of problem
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
  • Lubricate and clean machinery and support equipment to maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance standards within the plant
  • Document and track changeover times and record
  • Accomplish all work orders to maintain safety; reduce downtime; decrease scrap; improve quality production; and improve plant efficiency
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures including Lockout/Tagout program, housekeeping, and 5S standards and observes the operations to insure a safe work environment
  • Follow, without exception, all work instructions and safety policies, including use of all PPE and safety equipment


Technical Experience

  • Proven maintenance and technical proficiency in all disciplines: electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc
  • Ability to know how to use tools
  • Robotics/automation exposure and experience
  • Ability to read schematics and blue prints

Job Requirements


  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required
  • Prefer Associates/Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Trades/Maintenance related field
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, attend and participate in safety meetings, as well as promoting preventative maintenance to management and production associates
  • Supports Lean Manufacturing, and other company directives and/or projects
  • Solid, proven and stable background in a maintenance related position in injection/blow mold facility
  • Ability to use precision measuring devices including amp meters, electric meters, and hydraulic gauges
  • Basic understanding of systems, equipment and schematics
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Good troubleshooting skills
  • Basic mathematical skills used to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use decimals and fractions
