Job Snapshot

Job Description

As a Maintenance Mechanic with Mauser Packaging Solutions in Homerville, you are critical to our manufacturing operations. Without you, our plant would not be able to run and we could not make our products. We rely on your expertise and hard work.

Throughout your day here, you will be observing, testing, diagnosing, and repairing various types of industrial machinery. This equipment includes conveyors, welders, seamers, shears, press and assembly equipment, or lithography machines. As long as you have industrial maintenance experience, we’ll cross-train you on any equipment that you don’t know yet

This environment is not climate-controlled and it can be loud and dirty at times. You’ll have to wear provided safety equipment when appropriate including face masks, reinforced toe shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, and cut-resistant gloves and sleeves. You’ll be on a shift schedule and the hours are long. This does mean you have the potential for lots of overtime!

Here’s what you can expect during a typical shift:

  • You will begin each workday either taking over an existing line or starting one up.
  • You will make sure the equipment is in good working order and manufacturing everything to our customers’ exacting specifications.
  • If any machine is not working properly, you will safely and efficiently perform repairs.
  • If nothing needs repairs, you will work on any machinery needing preventative maintenance or cleaning.
  • If all equipment is running smoothly and maintained, you may be tasked with some repairs or maintenance to the facility.

To thrive in this role, you must have about a year of prior experience providing maintenance to large industrial equipment. You need to understand hydraulics, pneumatics, lockout/tagout, basic electrical principles, reading blueprints and schematics, and preventative maintenance procedures. You will be tested on many of these during our hiring procedure, but with your prior experience, passing this test should be no problem.

You must also be an absolute stickler for safety. You’ll be working around heavy industrial machinery which can be dangerous. Safe behavior is required at all times.

This job is not for everyone, but if you have the required skills, we think you’ll love it. Many of our employees stay here for a long time and say they hope to retire from our facility. We hope you’ll say that, too!
