Position Summary: The Inventory Specialist is responsible for coordinating, documenting, and reporting the activity and strategic objectives relating to the efficient procurement, receipt, transport, storage, distribution, and utilization of major raw materials for the production of plastic containers.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an internal resource and coordinator for materials. 
  • Correctly putting stock away that is received in the proper locations and scanning into SAP.
  • Attend daily scheduling meetings, understand the job run sequence.
  • Kitting required items to scheduled production orders and preparing for distribution to the production floor.
  • Returning excess stock and cycle back into inventory and report any discrepancies.
  • Physical receipt of railcars.
  • Setup the pumping sequence from railcars to the correct silos and conveying the information to the Production Shift Supervisors.
  • Monitoring resin pumping activities, report of status daily.
  • Turn in receiving documentation to the Plant Administrative Manager in a timely manner.
  • Organizes product in warehouse to aid in inventory counting.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as required.

Requirements

  • Previous successful experience in a plastics manufacturing plant coordinating materials and/or inventory.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work well within a fast-paced environment.
  • Needs to be able to make independent decisions and have a team player attitude.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are extremely important.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a variety of situations and levels.
  • Ability to anticipate, quantify, and adapt to changing parameters in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Will work closely with internal materials personnel, Operations/Plant Managers.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a variety of situations and levels.
  • Must be proficient with computers and MS Office.
  • Must be able to lift 55 lbs. overhead.
  • Requires good hand/eye/foot coordination.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and/or crouch for extended periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer literate, MS Office, ERP/MRP functions such as SAP, ORACLE, or other systems
  • Prior experience using RF Scanners
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
