Position Summary:

The Director of Quality is a proactive leader who works under the guidance of Mauser corporate policies and procedures while adhering to all customer product standards and specifications managing the Mauser Quality System for their assigned location. The Director's strategic focus is to work with the Regional Quality Manager to continuously improve the quality that is built into Mauser products.


•Responsible for implementation of process improvement with the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC), (MSA) Measurement Analysis.
•Define project management for new products in regard to customer requirements utilizing tools such as: Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Process Flow Mapping, Control Plan documentation and Capability Analysis.
•Ensures CoQ (Costs of Quality) metrics that are aligned with the company's strategic initiatives, including scrap, rework, returns, appraisal and prevention.
•Establish programs to improve metrics using continuous improvement tools as well as actively participates in projects that support Lean Manufacturing initiatives resulting in improved profitability, work flow and team performance. Proactively works to improve quality systems internally and externally to the plant.
•Utilize and teach Lean tools including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Poka-Yoke (mistake proofing), etc. Participates in Kaizen events as necessary.
•Supervises and manages daily activities of all Regional Quality team members
•Manages HFI (Hold for Inspection) System. Measures, quantifies and communicates HFIs to the production floor and any other team members who need to be informed.
•Manages the execution and continuous improvement of implementing quality systems across the regional manufacturing sites in a coordinated and standardized rollout. This includes all aspects of procedures, training, and adhering to total product specifications.
•Travels as necessary to meet with Regional Quality Managers and plant Quality Managers to establish best practices or to work with others in determining root cause or corrective action to quality issues.
•Responsible for managing all compliance to third party registries; AIB, BRC, ISO, etc.
•Responsible for monitoring and ensuring all third party compliance and product testing is up to date and properly maintained.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Operations or Business Management

• 10 -15 years' experience in Operations, Engineering or Quality management.

• Must have experience with preventive quality engineering techniques such as PFMEA, control plans, process mapping

• Knowledge of and experience with utilizing Lean manufacturing practices

• ASQ and/or Six Sigma Certifications are desired

• Proactive, driving personality - dedicated to serving the customer

• ASQ and/or Six Sigma certifications are desired.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presenting and organizational skills

• Sound business acumen and proven leadership skills

• Experience in customer interface

• Experienced in union and non-union environments.
