Position Summary:

Manage relationships between IT and Business Management and serve as a strategic business partner/change agent.  Shape business demand for IT products/services and ensure that the potential business value is identified, captured, realized, optimized and recognized. 


  • Individual Accountabilities

    • Strategic partnering – establish and maintain strategic relationships with assigned business stakeholders and across IT. Drive short- and long-term planning sessions to improve business capabilities​.
    • Relationship Management – Ensure stakeholder expectations are set and resolve disconnects through negotiation or governance mechanisms. With IT teams, work collaboratively to share knowledge and ultimately develop more fit-for-purpose, robust and scalable solutions. ​
    • Business Case Development – Collaborate with business stakeholders and contribute to the business case process by analyzing business value, benefits, risks, and estimated costs. ​
    • SME – Leverage experience and best practices for targeted business areas and information systems to provide specialized knowledge across the network and add value to overall business objectives. ​
    • Advocate – Lead and champion change management activities for assigned business functions with frequent communications. ​
    • Business Application Ownership – Select and oversee the delivery of high-quality business application functionality leveraging other IT services​
    • Vendor Relationship Management – Select and manage business application support vendors to provide high quality functional support.

Job Requirements


  • Stakeholder Management​ – Partners with business leadership and other key stakeholders to define opportunities and identify and prioritize projects based on predefined criteria (e.g. return on investment, productivity, compliance). Supervises and maintains relationships between the IT organization and internal and external stakeholders within the BU. ​


  • Relationship Management – Proactively serves as a “trusted advisor,” and is the primary IT point of contact to business line executives and managers. They operate as the key business contact representing IT in promoting IT services and capabilities. ​

  • Application Strategy​ – Develops and pursues an business application strategy that is aligned with business unit and corporate priorities. Ensures the strategy is executed in a timely and consistent manner to achieve business goals. ​

  • Data Governance​ – Champions global data governance standards and assists key business owners in the proper governance and maintenance of data. ​

  • Business Requirements and Process Analysis​ – Perform business analysis and prepare recommendations and business plans as needed. This includes providing business analysis services (either personally or through a vendor partner) and assisting in the continuous improvement of business processes.  A focus of this capability is to define and assist in the achievement of ROI objectives for key projects. ​

  • Identify, Roadmap and Manage Business Demand – Continuously scan business unit management and leadership teams to identify initiatives that support business goals. Quantify the value of these initiatives and create both short- and long-term plans to fund and implement approved initiatives. ​ 

  • Implement New Functionality in Existing Applications​ – Assure new capabilities are properly introduced and adopted within business operations to achieve stated goals and leverage investments. ​

  • BI Reporting and Analytics​ – Ensures BU can access and has appropriate insights into operational and performance data and metrics. This includes assisting with the definition of reports and analytical tools and assuring the timely delivery of information for business consumption. ​

  • Organizational Change Enablement​ – Champions change, standards, continuous improvement and promoting an enterprise mindset and promoting desired or new behaviors. Communicates decisions, priorities and relevant project information to appropriate levels of staff regarding business unit requests and projects and initiatives. ​

  • Cost Management​ – Create and manage IT budgets that efficiently support business unit IT resourcing and investment demands. Perform regular forecasts of IT spend and adjust as appropriate to meet business EBITDA and cash flow targets. ​

  • User Acceptance Testing​ – Assists with UAT prior to release of a new system or significant change. This includes identifying key users, assuring they are informed and educated on the change, assisting with documenting test results and coordinating remediation with the appropriate IT team. ​

  • Application Functional Support​ – Provides support in delivering technology solutions that meet the needs of the business. Ensures that customers have the solutions they need, when they need them, and in the media best suited to their requirements. This includes being a liaison between the business and the IT Service Desk operation to assure SLA’s are met and customer satisfaction targets are achieved. ​

  • M&A IT Integration Program Management​ – Act as the business unit IT lead to coordinate the delivery of IT services from other IT functions as appropriate to onboard and integrate operations from business acquisitions. ​

  • Application Maintenance​ – Assists IT prepare for and implement application patches or upgrades. This includes assuring business partners are aware of the justification for maintenance windows, coordinating appropriate times for maintenance changes, and assuring systems are functioning properly after maintenance activities are completed. ​

  • Application Catalogue Management​ – Maintain an accurate catalogue of business application information including application functionality (both in use and available for use), locations where used, user counts, version levels, operating costs, and other relevant data as needed by the business unit or IT management. ​
