Purpose and Scope:

Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment and components. Reviews manufacturer manuals and schematics as well as blue prints and drawings to understand the operation of controllers, PLCs, other programmable equipment and sensing devices.

Key Responsibilities and Account-abilities:

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Must demonstrate lockout tagout knowledge when servicing electrical equipment.
  • Must be capable of understanding and repairing electrical equipment such as: Control Logic, Allen Bradley SLC 500, Seimens, Vision Systems, etc.
  • Repair of motor overload and current protection including fuses and breakers.
  • Ability to work on 24VDC systems and a working knowledge of 120, 220/240 and 480 volt power distribution installation, maintenance and repair.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and clearly with co-workers and management.


Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training an experience.

• Full and complete understanding of hydraulics, pneumatic, electricity and PLC troubleshooting.

• Proven electrical background; 3rd year apprentice preferred.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Machine set- up, troubleshoots equipment failures, and perform repair and prevent maintenance services ensuring that all safety procedures are being followed.

• Must have strong PLC troubleshooting capability and ability to read and program code .

• Must have good working knowledge of all aspects of electrical controls, mechanical assembly, plumbing, and heating, ventilating and air conditioning related control systems.

• Read and interpret electrical control and mechanical assembly drawings, as well as service manuals for all equipment.

• Troubleshoot and repair both Electrical and Mechanical problems associated with Production and Facility equipment in a timely manner.

• Must be able to work to repair equipment back to service during emergency breakdowns.


• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

Be able to work 8 hour shifts. Must be able to work 12 hour shifts and Saturday and Sunday when needed.  Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime when needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. They employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
